John,

2020 has gone very differently than any of us expected, but that hasn’t stopped the anti-corruption movement from rising to the moment to win the most vital campaigns across America.

Here’s what you have made possible:

Making sure all Americans can vote safely

Americans shouldn’t have to choose between their health and their right to vote — but that’s exactly what happened in some early primaries.

In Wisconsin, where vote by mail options are not available to all voters, Americans lined up for hours at crowded polling stations and dozens of people contracted COVID as a result.

Vote by Mail is safe, doesn't advantage one party over another, and is proven1 to be more fraud-proof than voting in person. But misinformation is everywhere – even the President has shared false information about vote by mail. That’s why we launched VoteSafe, and in a stunning development, Twitter this week introduced a feature to fact-check misinformation about Vote by Mail.

To protect our fundamental right to vote safely, RepresentUs:

  • Launched VoteSafe. Chaired by Former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge and Former PA Governor Jennifer Granholm, and endorsed by dozens of leading civic organizations, plus Republican and Democratic election officials.
  • Created a critical resource to help voters find the Vote by Mail options in their state.
  • Drove 7,500 of us to contact our election officials demanding expanded absentee ballot options. And now they're available to all voters in 45 states!
  • Released this short, entertaining animated video to make sure everyone knows the truth about Vote by Mail.

We’re just getting started, and we have so much more to do before this November's election.

Fighting to win state campaigns in 2020

In Missouri, we fought back against an outrageous plan from politicians. Lawmakers, upset about the anti-gerrymandering law passed by voters in 2018, are attempting to undo it. Their plan? Put an amendment on the ballot to bring gerrymandering back to Missouri.

We called thousands of MO voters to tell them about this shady plan and urge them to stop it. The pro-gerrymandering plan will go to the ballot — and you can bet your American flag we’re fighting to reject this shocking power-grab.

Massachusetts volunteers gathered over 17,000 signatures to get Ranked Choice Voting on the ballot to put more power in the hands of the people. This is phenomenal news — but we're not done yet. The campaign has a goal of collecting 25,000 digital signatures before June 12th in order to qualify for the ballot. If you know anyone in Massachusetts, please ask them to sign!

Learning From the Experts on Unrig Roundtable

Our Unrig Roundtable series brought elected officials, activists and academics together to discuss some of the most pressing issues affecting our political system.

The 3-episode series tackled Vote by Mail, digital warfare, and spoke to young activists. You can watch recordings of all three events and share them with your networks here.

It’s not clear what the “new normal” will look like over the next few months, but we do know that there is plenty of work for us to do together.

If you're ready to help fuel more victories, you can start now by joining The Common Wealth with a monthly donation, or joining our volunteer network to get connected with RepresentUs volunteers and campaigns across America.

Thank you for all that you're doing to fix our political system,

Jen
