Friend, I want you to be the first to hear this: I’m officially launching my campaign to represent Minnesota in the U.S. Senate.

I’d like to take a moment and tell you why I’ve decided to run for the Senate — but first, I need to ask: will you split a $10 donation between iVote Fund and me today to become a Founding Donor to my campaign?

Throughout my life and career in state and local government, I’ve seen and lived the impact the federal government can have on people’s everyday lives.

I was raised by a single mom in St. Louis Park. We had a home because of a Section 8 housing voucher, and public programs helped my mom afford lunch at school, health insurance coverage, and child care.

My lived experience has informed my belief that we should wrap our arms around our neighbors in need.

I believe Minnesota is a potluck state. People can come from all walks of life, have different experiences, and yet share the same values. If it snows, we’ll shovel your driveway. If you move into the neighborhood, we’ll bring you a hotdish or bars.

Now, I get to pay back the investments my neighbors made in my family through my career in public service.

I’ve served on the Minneapolis School Board, in the Minnesota House, and now as Lieutenant Governor. It has been the honor of my lifetime to serve people from every walk of life and every corner of the state.

Throughout my career, I’ve championed the kitchen-table issues that impact our children and families every day, including raising the minimum wage, paid family and medical leave, and free school meals.

Friend, I’m a Minnesotan — not a D.C. insider. I’ve lived here my whole life, and my Ojibwe relatives have called this land home since time immemorial.

If we win this race, I’ll become the first Native American woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate.

Friend, my Anishinaabe name, Gizhiiwewidamookwe, means ‘speaks in a loud and clear voice woman’. I’m asking for your help to speak in a loud and clear voice for all of Minnesota in the U.S. Senate. Can I count on you to split $10 between iVote Fund and me to become a Founding Donor to my campaign?

iVote was created in 2014 with one goal: secure voting rights for all Americans.

Rather than take on challenges in the court after unfair laws have passed, iVote plays defense on voter suppression efforts AND goes on offense to secure and expand access to voting.

Going on offense is critical. We have the chance to elect Secretaries of State that will protect our elections for years to come. But Republicans are already suppressing and blocking certain citizens from exercising their fundamental right to vote.

DONATE

We need a massive coalition to register new voters and protect our right to vote in this election and beyond.

We know you get a lot of emails, but it's only because this fight is so important. We need you to stick with us long term. But if you must go, you can unsubscribe.
