John,
It’s been a week of big wins, from laying the groundwork for tax cuts to
rolling back Biden’s nonsensical Green New Deal policies, and yes, plenty of
screaming protesters, too. But I want to take a moment to highlight the
important work we’re doing to advance our conservative values.
This week, House Republicans stuck together and passed a budget resolution.
This is a framework for advancing President Trump’s agenda, extending his tax
cuts, and reducing wasteful spending and fraud. Getting a final budget passed
and signed into law is all-important, especially considering the middle-class
tax cuts, which Democrats opposed in 2017, are set to expire. Those cuts
doubled the standard deduction and lowered rates across the board, which led to
a booming economy and a strong middle class. All of that would be on the
chopping block if it weren’t for President Trump and House Republicans. In our
district, a family of four making the median income (around $70,000 a year)
would see their taxes go up by more than $1,400 should the cuts expire. It’s
disappointing that not one Democrat voted in favor of relieving the burden that
so many Americans feel during tax season, but not surprising from the party of
tax and spend. Thankfully, we have a president and House majority who know
exactly what American families need and continue to deliver on our promises.
House Republicans are being aggressive in rolling back Joe Biden’s disastrous
America-last policies, and this time, even some House Democrats joined us. Days
before President Trump took office, I co-sponsored Rep. Gary Palmer’s (R-AL)
resolution to block Biden’s backdoor ban on natural gas water heaters. This
dumb show of federal overreach would have forced us to pay more toheat water
just to satisfy the Left’s scammy Green New Deal agenda. Thankfully, the House
passed our resolution with bipartisan support. Eleven Democrats broke ranks to
stand with us because even they know Biden’s regulations are extreme and out of
touch with reality. Since Biden and the radical Left didn’t stop at stoves,
House Republicans will continue using the Congressional Review Act to overturn
more ridiculous federal regulations that put climate activists before the
well-being of everyday Americans.
The radical Left is unhinged, and they’re coming after me and my staff.
Indivisible and MoveOn, Soros-funded Democrat attack groups, have organized
protests outside my official offices in Willmar and Moorhead. They’re the same
activists who claim to “defend democracy,” but what they really want is to
silence conservatives and bully anyone who stands with President Trump. With
these recent demonstrations, it seems they’ve dusted off their 2017 protest
handbook and are back in action, staging mob-style tantrums because they can’t
stand that we’re taking real action to clean up the mess in Washington. Their
attacks against me are misinformed, sneering, and vicious. But here’s the
problem for them: I won’t be intimidated, and I won’t back down from doing what
we have long needed to do to save our republic. I stand with President Trump in
securing our borders, cutting government waste, and putting America First. No
left-wing protesters or Soros-funded activists will ever change that.
As always, thank you for your continued trust and support. Don’t hesitate to
reach out if you have any questions or need assistance with anything.
With gratitude,
