John,
Yesterday’s Oval Office meeting was deeply troubling.
In a sit-down meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Donald Trump and J.D. Vance chose to make excuses for Vladimir Putin and attack our allies. Their decision is wrong and dangerous. It is indefensible to side with Putin over our allies in Ukraine.
Our allies desperately need our help. If Ukraine falls, the United States will be pushed into a global conflict. It is a choice that the administration would rather appease the Kremlin than bring substantive national security measures through Congress.
Even the most conservative Republican presidents knew Russia was not an ally to the United States. We cannot ignore the lessons learned from history.
February marked the third anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Bickering with our allies won’t fix this conflict. Siding with Russian aggression won’t fix this. The United States must defend democracy over authoritarianism.
I will exhaust every legislative option to support our allies, deliver humanitarian assistance, and push back against these attacks from the administration. If you agree, please make a donation today to help me continue this work.
