** Stronger together.
------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Idaho Young Democrats,
It has been an extremely difficult few weeks in the Idaho Legislature (as well as the country as a whole), with the passage of harmful and inconsiderate legislation, including HB93 - the school voucher bill that Idahoans were overwhelmingly against. We also strongly opposed Governor Little’s decision, which undermines our public schools and diverts essential funding away from Idaho students who need it most. Our president, Taylor Thompson-McMullin, recently spoke about our stance on this issue. You can watch the interview clip in the short video below.

We want to take a moment to thank every one of you who has testified against harmful bills, protested, called, texted, or emailed your representatives and senators. Your advocacy is vital. Even when the fight feels futile, please know that your voice matters. Every action you take strengthens our movement and keeps up the pressure on those in power. Do NOT give up—we are in this together.

** Stay informed.
------------------------------------------------------------
With SO much happening in the Legislature, staying informed is absolutely critical. The ACLU of Idaho has put together a bill tracker to help you follow legislation moving through the committees, which we have linked below. You can also find similar bill trackers through your favorite local organizations about the issues you care about. Keep tabs on what’s important to you, remain educated and aware, and don’t stop advocating!

** A Letter from Us to You: We Keep Going
------------------------------------------------------------
If there’s one thing we know, it’s that the people in power are counting on us to lose hope. They want us to believe that nothing we do matters, that their harmful legislation will pass without resistance, and that we’ll take it lying down. But we can’t, and won’t. We only lose when we give up—and we’re not going anywhere.
This movement has never been about quick victories; it has always been about showing up, doing the work, and bringing people together. We aren’t just fighting back—we’re in the business of building something bigger. Right now, we’re focused on real, tangible, grassroots change. That means things like feeding our food-insecure neighbors, showing up in solidarity and protest with local organizations, testifying in the Capitol, loudly calling out injustice where we see it, and, most importantly, creating a stronger, more unified community—a community that is impossible to ignore. But, we continue to need your help.
The road ahead won’t be easy, that’s been made clear. But every protest, every call, every meal shared, every connection made—it ALL matters. Do NOT become convinced that it does not. We are a formidable force, and we are only getting stronger. So, keep going. Stay angry, and stay busy. Keep fighting, and keep showing up - day after day, after day. We have a hand in shaping Idaho’s future: one of equity, transparency, and proper prioritization of the people.
Thank you for your hard work, hope, and continued support of the Idaho Young Democrats. Our gratitude is immeasurable. Know that we are in your corner.
Respectfully and with affection,
Madeline Horak
