Howdy John,
It’s Shad, Chair of the Colorado Democratic Party.
I’m sure you know why I’m reaching out to you. At the end of this email, I’m going to ask for your support in reaching our February end-of-month fundraising goal.
But first, let me explain what we've done to earn it.
We all know it has been a chaotic start to the year. The new Trump administration and the Republican majorities in Congress are moving rapidly. They’ve empowered billionaire Elon Musk to chop up our federal government, fire workers, and arbitrarily cut programs while attempting to dismantle our institutions of checks and balances. They’ve sowed chaos and confusion in our communities with their ad-hoc executive actions, and left our friends and allies around the world shocked and wondering if America can be trusted.
It has all been overwhelming and infuriating. I know it can feel like there is so little we can do to make a change or stop all this madness. I get it because I feel it, too. But then I look at the action we’ve all taken this month, and I know we can win.
* The Colorado Democratic Party reorganized in every county with new and returning leadership ready to recruit candidates, train organizers, and win.
* I’ve traveled the state, hosting and attending town halls and visiting with Democrats and voters across the state to hear from you and build a cohesive and unified plan drafted by rural and metropolitan Democrats.
* Democrats in Western Colorado joined in a massive town hall for GOP Congressman Jeff Hurd, who failed to show up. An empty chair filled his spot as voters planned more ways to hold him accountable.
* CDP brought constituents, nurses, and elected officials together to demand that GOP Congressman Gabe Evans vote no on cutting Medicaid to pay for tax cuts for billionaires – he caved to Elon Musk and Donald Trump and voted to slash Medicaid for 73,000 of his own constituents.
* We offered a path forward for Democrats with an op-ed about an economic message [[link removed]] that can resonate with voters of all backgrounds and geographies.
* Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper held the Senate floor and disrupted activity for 30 hours straight to protest the nomination of the Project 2025 architect to lead a federal agency.
* Congresswoman Brittany Pettersen flew to Washington D.C. with her one-month-old baby during her maternity leave to stand up to the House GOP and vote against cutting services and giving tax cuts to the ultra-wealthy in return.
* And thousands of you have marched in the streets from Pagosa Springs to Denver to send a message that we will not let this stand.
We are fighting back, and it's time for the gloves to come off. Colorado Democrats in Washington fight for our state and our values every day, and I’m determined to send them reinforcements in the next election. Every action we take, every voter we reach, and every community we engage IS what the fight against Trump and Republican extremism looks like. If you're pissed off like I am, let's keep up the fight.
We’re committed to that work day in and day out until the next election, but we’ll need your support to be successful. If you’re ready to be in this fight together, please become a monthly donor to our party through the 2025 Fight Back Fund >> [[link removed]]
