Legislative Update

Friends,

The past few weeks in St. Paul have been both busy and productive. I’ve been focused on crafting legislation and connecting with constituents to better understand their needs and gather feedback on upcoming bills. I’m proud to introduce legislation that will make a meaningful difference in public safety across Minnesota, and I’d like to highlight a few of these important bills below.

*Improving Public Safety*

*H.F. 541 - *creates a reimbursement program for postsecondary institutions offering use-of-force training to peace officers, including scenario-based exercises, stress management, and de-escalation techniques. It ensures high-quality training at no cost to officers or agencies, improving officer preparedness and public safety.

*H.F. 543 –* ensures that legal professionals are better equipped to handle cases related to human trafficking. The training will improve the effectiveness of legal actions against human trafficking, ultimately contributing to greater protection for victims and better law enforcement outcomes across Minnesota.

*H.F. 544* – enhances public safety by ensuring that individuals convicted of severe crimes, such as sex trafficking and criminal sexual conduct, are not eligible for early release through earned incentive credits, thereby maintaining stronger accountability for these offenders.

*Rally in Support of Girls’ Sports (Monday, March 3rd)*

A rally in support of preserving girls' sports will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM on the steps of the Minnesota State Capitol in Saint Paul. The event will feature Riley Gaines, a 12-time NCAA All-American swimmer and advocate for women's sports, as the keynote speaker. Organizers, including House Speaker Lisa Demuth, aim to highlight the importance of fair competition and protecting opportunities for female athletes.
