Seattle DSA Endorses
Michael Westgaard for Renton City Council Position 1!
Mike is an unapologetic fighter for working people. Rent in Renton has skyrocketed to stratospheric levels over the past five years, increasing 43% for a one bedroom apartment! This disproportionately impacts people of color, Black people, and other oppressed communities - which make up the majority of working people in Renton.
Mike is a tireless champion for housing and transit for all, ending the racist war on drugs, and defending Raise the Rage Renton, of which he was a lead organizer!
He is running as a democratic socialist in a grassroots campaign against a Chamber of Commerce backed establishment incumbent, James Alberson. A member of the Democratic Party establishment, Alberson and the Chamber of Commerce went all out to stop raising the minimum wage in Renton - a ballot initiative that went on to win 58% of the vote in 2024.
Mike needs donations of all amounts to challenge his opponent, who will undoubtedly be backed to the hilt by big business and the super-rich in Renton. Chip in $25, $50, $100 to tip the scales in favor of working people by electing Mike.
Socialist cash takes out the capitalist trash!
