Folks,
We need to talk about President Trump’s bizarre outburst in the Oval Office today, where he berated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and sided with authoritarian Vladimir Putin over our Ukrainian partners.
I guess I’m not totally surprised, since just a few days ago in the United Nations, the United States voted with Russia and North Korea – and against Ukraine and our longtime allies – refusing to acknowledge this simple fact: that Vladimir Putin started this war three years ago when he brutally invaded Ukraine.
It’s beyond bizarre. It’s disgraceful.
If the United States walks away from Ukraine now, I’m frightened to think about what might come next. What other countries are we prepared to sacrifice to Putin? Are we going to completely walk away from NATO?
And how many more of these incidents until our allies decide they can’t trust Americans at all?
I fear – and I hope I’m wrong – that history may judge this as the moment America was weakened on the world’s stage for decades to come.
Trump is putting our nation in harm’s way. I will always fight to protect it. I hope you’ll stand with me.
The fight continues,
Mark Warner
