Securing American Agriculture |
|
e .jpeg) |
This week I introduced the Protecting American Agriculture from Foreign Adversaries Act of 2025 to prevent the CCP from planting their roots in our critical farmland.
This bipartisan legislation adds the Secretary of Agriculture to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and empowers USDA with the authority to review land purchases by foreign entities.
Farmers, ranchers, and landowners across the country deserve the certainty offered by adding the Secretary of Agriculture to CFIUS to ensure they are not selling land to an entity controlled by the CCP.
I am glad to have the support of my colleagues in the House and Senate on these critical pieces of legislation and appreciate the comments by President Trump and Secretary Rollins to keep our enemies out of our backyard. |

Addressing the National Potato Council
|
On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of speaking at the National Potato Council Washington Summit.
I spoke with potato farmers from across the nation, including many from Central Washington, about the work my colleagues and I are doing to get a strong Farm bill across the finish line this Congress.
I shared the ongoing efforts we are working on to support the agriculture workforce, increase market access for farmers, and reverse the course of our farm economy to get our industry back on its feet.
It was great to meet with some spud-tacular farmers!

This week I had the pleasure of meeting with multiple members of our states public utility districts to discuss the importance of hydropower to our region.
Here in Central Washington, we rely on our public utility districts for critical services to sustain our ways of life.
I look forward to continuing to work together to meet the needs of our growing state! |
Talking Economic Deveopment with TRIDEC

Meeting with Aerial Firefighters |
|
On Wednesday I met with multiple members of the United Aerial Fire Fighting Association to discuss fire suppression priorities for the new year.
We spoke about the challenges they are facing and how I can support fire preparedness and management as fire season approaches.
We also discussed how my bill, the Aerial Firefighting Enhancement Act of 2025, will help them fight wildfires in our district with excess military aircraft and parts used by the Department of Defense. |
Hearing From Our Neighbors to the North |
|
This week I welcomed leaders from Canada to discuss how we can work together to stop the flow of fentanyl into our communities.
Fighting the fentanyl crisis remains one of my top priorities, and while national overdose deaths are trending down, numbers in Washington state are on the rise.
I look forward to finding new ways we can work together to end this crisis.

The New Leader of Local Beer |
|
On Wednesday, I met with Bart Watson, the new President and CEO of the Brewers Association.
Washington's Fourth District is home to hundreds of independent breweries that produce world-renowned products. As a hop farmer, I understand the importance of supporting local breweries not only in our district, but across the country. |
Addressing Central Washington's Health Workforce |
|
On Wednesday, I met with members of the National Association of County and City Health Officials to discuss the need for public health officials in our communities.
