A Message from Gabe:
Greetings Rhode Islanders,
This week, 217 Republicans voted for a budget resolution that is a bad deal for working families. It opens the door to massive tax cuts for the wealthy and devastating cuts to critical programs that provide health care and food assistance to millions.

The Republican budget resolution could slash Medicaid that over 306,000 Rhode Islanders rely on to access health care and programs that help families put food on the table. If these proposals become reality, seniors, kids, and people with disabilities will suffer. At the same time, this budget proposal would allow conservatives to shovel over $1 trillion in tax breaks to the wealthiest 1% of Americans. That’s immoral and wrong. Congress should ensure working families can afford groceries, not pad the pockets of the billionaires.

As a member of the House Budget Committee, I introduced amendments to protect SNAP and support Medicaid. Unfortunately, Republicans voted against my proposals. But that won’t stop me from fighting to lower costs and put working people first. I will keep working to make life more affordable, uphold our values, and invest in our communities.
Sincerely, |

Do you oppose the Republican Budget that could cut Medicaid and nutritional assistance while giving tax cuts to the wealthiest 1%? |

President Trump’s unconstitutional policy decision to reduce the reimbursement rate for indirect research costs would devastate Rhode Island research institutions that rely on funding from the National Institutes of Health to carry out their life-saving work.
I joined our state delegation to demand answers about these drastic cuts.

To celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Military Order of Foreign Wars, I honored Admiral Stephen Bleeker Luce, the founder of the organization’s Rhode Island Commandery and the first president of the U.S. Naval War College.
Admiral Luce’s legacy as a trailblazing naval officer is a key piece of Rhode Island’s long history of dedicated service to our nation. |

On the steps of the State House, I spoke to thousands of constituents about congressional actions in standing up for what is right amid President Trump and Elon Musk’s unconstitutional power grab.
Congress must act — in big ways and small — to restore the values of truth, decency, and accountability in our government. |

President Trump and Elon Musk’s cruel policies continues to create chaos and confusion in our communities.
I spoke with three Rhode Islanders who worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture who can no longer help farmers and Rhode Island cities and towns because of the Trump Administration’s shortsighted decisions. |

A major thank you to Honor Flight Rhode Island for letting me join their meet and greet to express my gratitude for our Veterans.
Their visit to Washington D.C. serves as a powerful tribute to the Rhode Island heroes from World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam, who have earned our utmost gratitude. |

While others seek to deny Black History Month and weaponize the ideas of diversity, equity, and inclusion — I joined Senator Jack Reed at the Mixed Magic Theatre in Pawtucket to discuss how art supports and advances our collective freedom. |

It was a pleasure to meet with the National Association of School Nurses!
In schools across Rhode Island, nurses like Amy are essential in supporting mental health, offering care, compassion, and early intervention.
I am proud to support efforts that would recognize their work and grow the pipeline of nursing students to schools in our community. |

It was great to visit Jaia Robotics, a start-up in Bristol, to discuss my work in Congress supporting the future of underwater drone technology and aquatic data collection.
Amid Trump’s policy cuts on science and research innovation, I am working in Congress to invest in Rhode Island's Blue Economy to create jobs and uplift coastal communities like ours. |

Defending Global Partnerships to Promote American Influence Abroad
CLICK HERE TO VIEW: Vice Ranking Member Amo highlights the Biden Administration’s work to build up critical alliances like the Australia, United Kingdom, United States (AUKUS) security pact.
This week, in the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee hearing on East Asia and the Pacific, I called for bipartisan commitment to building up our alliances and explained why our global partnerships matter now more than ever.
I highlighted President Joe Biden commitment to strengthening alliances like AUKUS, the historic security pact between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. These partnerships are not just about diplomacy; they help keep us safe, support good-paying jobs in Rhode Island's Blue Economy, and ensure America stays competitive on the world stage.
I also pushed back on Donald Trump’s decision to unconstitutionally freeze foreign aid, turn our backs on our allies, and weaken our nation’s standing abroad. This has only made it easier for countries like China to step in and expand their influence around the world. The United States needs to lead, not retreat. When we invest in strong international relationships, we create a safer, more prosperous future— both at home and abroad.
