Email from Rep. Carter My work in TX-31 and Congress   Howdy Texan – I wanted to provide you with an update on my work for Texas' 31st district in the United States House. ON THE DOCKET: Meeting with the VA Secretary Passing a budget Texas Tech Student Government AIPAC What do you think: 5 things email THE BRIEF: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted publicly for the first time since his Oval Office blowup with President Donald Trump on Friday with a social media post thanking the United States. Amtrak is soliciting a partner to help bring high-speed rail to the Lone Star State. President Trump on Thursday threw his support behind advancing a “clean” stopgap funding measure, urging Congress to move his legislative agenda forward with a continuing resolution. MEETING WITH THE NEW VA SECRETARY This week, I had the opportunity to meet with the new Veterans Affairs Secretary—and my longtime friend—Doug Collins, to discuss critical issues impacting our veterans. We share a deep commitment to strengthening the VA, ensuring it operates efficiently and effectively to provide the care and support our veterans have earned. Every dollar lost to waste, fraud, or abuse is a dollar that should be going directly to benefits and health care for America’s heroes. Our veterans deserve nothing less than the best, and Secretary Collins and I are dedicated to working together to ensure the VA fulfills its mission to serve those who have so selflessly served our country. PASSING A BUDGET This week, the House took a critical step toward restoring fiscal responsibility by passing a budget resolution—one of the first steps necessary to deliver on President Trump's America First agenda. I was proud to support this measure because it upholds our commitment to economic stability while ensuring we deliver a secure border, energy independence, and lower taxes to the American people. I will continue fighting for the mandate the American people expect from Republican leadership.   TEXAS TECH STUDENT GOVERNMENT I met with Texas Tech University student government leaders during their Big XII on the Hill conference. We discussed college affordability and workforce preparedness, and I shared a few stories from my time as a Red Raider. Wreck 'em Tech! SUPPORTING ISRAEL This week, I met with the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee to discuss the war with Hamas and the challenges Israel continues to face. I reaffirmed my unwavering support for Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorism and aggression. As our strongest ally in the Middle East, Israel’s security is vital to regional stability and America’s national interests. The United States must always stand firmly with Israel against those who seek to do them harm. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
