Dear Washingtonians,
Summer may still be a few months away, but now is the time to start planning for an enriching and fun-filled season for our kids and teens. From DPR camps to DOES job opportunities, there are many programs to keep our young people safe, engaged, and having fun.
Below are a few important deadlines to keep in mind:
DPR Summer Camp
* Lottery deadline: Monday, March 3 at 5:00 p.m.
* Open to kids ages 3-13
* Camps run from June 23 to August 15

Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program
* Youth application deadline: Thursday, March 6 at 11:59 p.m.
* Host employer deadline: Sunday, June 1
* Open to youth ages 14-24

DCPS Summer Programming
* Registration deadline: Friday, May 23 at 11:59 p.m.
* Free enrichment programs for elementary, middle, and high school students
* Full- and half-day options with meals provided

In addition to planning for the summer, it is also time to plan for next school year. The My School DC lottery application deadline for PreK3-Grade 8 is just three days away:
* Application deadline: Monday, March 3 at 11:59 p.m.
* My School DC provides a fair and transparent process for families selecting a DCPS or public charter school for their children

Tomorrow: Budget Engagement Forum at Kennedy Recreation Center

Join the final 2025 Budget Engagement Forum tomorrow to share your values and priorities with the Mayor before she sends her Fiscal Year 2026 budget to the Council of the District of Columbia. During the forum, residents will receive an overview of the current budget environment, hear from other residents about their priorities, and participate in small group discussions about how the Mayor should allocate funds.

Join the Launch of DC 2050, the District’s Next Comprehensive Plan

On Monday, Mayor Bowser and the DC Office of Planning (OP) are launching DC 2050, the District’s next comprehensive plan. DC 2050 will shape how the District grows over the next 25 years. Participants will have the opportunity to share their vision for the city through interactive stations and surveys and learn how they can get more involved in the process.

#BeDowntown: Cherry Blossom Peak Bloom Announced!

Coming soon: the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival, a four-week celebration of spring filled with fun, food, culture, and entertainment! This year, peak bloom is expected to fall between Friday, March 28 through Monday, March 31.
