Governor DeWine Reappoints Friedeman to PUCO
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today reappointed Lawrence K. Friedeman to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO). Friedeman was appointed to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) by Governor John R. Kasich in 2017 and reappointed to a second term by Governor Mike DeWine in 2020. Friedeman’s current term expires April 10, 2025, and his new five-year term starts April 11th.
For more than 20 years, Commissioner Friedeman held various roles in the energy sector related to regulatory and compliance disciplines. His tenure afforded him the opportunity to work with regulatory commissions, utilities, consumer advocates and competitive suppliers in a dozen states, including Ohio.
Commissioner Friedeman received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He and his wife, Beth, a retired educator, reside in Waterville, Ohio. Commissioner Friedeman has two adult daughters and three grandchildren.
This appointment is subject to confirmation by the Ohio Senate.
