This critical legislation would fundamentally reform and restructure the federal workforce by focusing on hiring and retaining officials on a merit basis, modeling employee dismissal with that of the private sector and lessen the time it takes to root out misconduct and poor performers. To learn more about the MERIT Act, read our press release on the Senate companion bill here, a one-page summary here, the full House bill text here, and the full Senate bill text here. Additionally, the Daily Signal highlighted our efforts here. | Protecting Americans' Financial Privacy | The SEC's collection of personal financial information through the Consolidated Audit Trail is unconstitutional and entirely unnecessary; and it exposes American investors to serious cybersecurity risks from foreign adversaries and criminal hackers. That's why I reintroduced the Protecting Investors' Personally Identifiable Information Act in the U.S. House to effectively eliminate the potential for both accidental and intentional breaches by restricting the SEC's automatic collection of American's personal financial data. The budget blueprint is the first step in restructuring the federal government; and it sets the framework for House committees to determine the best policies within their jurisdictions and find ways to cut wasteful spending and save taxpayers' dollars through efficiency and modernization. The top bills are as follows:
- H. Con. Res 14 – FY25 Budget Resolution – Rep. Jodey Arrington (TX-19)
- This resolution is the first step necessary to unlock the budget reconciliation process and deliver President Trump's agenda. It contains budgetary instructions for House committees to produce legislation that roots out waste, fraud, and abuse within our bloated federal agencies, cuts taxes for hardworking American families, unleashes American energy production, secures our borders, and strengthens our national security.
- H.J. Res. 35 – Natural Gas Tax Congressional Review Act (CRA) Resolution – Rep. August Pfluger (TX-11)
- During his four years in office, President Biden with the strong support of Congressional Democrats, waged war on American fossil fuels, prioritizing their far-left Green New Deal agenda over average Americans. This resolution repeals the Biden Administration's burdensome natural gas tax, which would handicap domestic oil and gas producers, to support American energy dominance and lower costs for consumers.
- H.J. Res. 20 – Gas Water Heater Congressional Review Act (CRA) Resolution – Rep. Gary Palmer (AL-6)
- Americans across the country rely on choices that fit their needs when it comes to appliances, often choosing affordable, reliable natural gas to power their households. When the Biden Administration prioritized their far-left Green New Deal agenda over average Americans, they attempted to remove choice from the marketplace, and as a result, increased costs on the American consumer. This resolution repeals the Biden Administration's ban on gas-fired water heaters to preserve consumer choice and keep costs low for American families.
| Rep. Loudermilk Co-Sponsors Bills | This week, I co-sponsored several pieces of legislation. These bills are as follows: - H.R. 1151 – Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow's Workforce Act
- Permits the use of 529 saving account funds to pay for post-secondary training programs. This will help more Americans obtain and retain well-paying jobs that don't require a traditional four-year degree.
- H.R. 1232 – National Right to Work Act
- Affirms the right of every American to work without being compelled to belong to a union or pay union dues.
- H.R. 1596 – To designate the U.S. National Poultry Research Center of the Department of Agriculture located in Athens, Georgia as the "Abit Massey Poultry Research Center
- Renames the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Poultry Research Center in Athens, Georgia after the late President of the Georgia Poultry Federation, Francis "Abit" Massey.
