This week, President Trump held his first cabinet meeting of his second term, and it was a full House! Senate GOP has confirmed 19 cabinet-level officials, plus our outstanding FBI Director, Kash Patel. This week, we also confirmed Daniel P. Driscoll for Secretary of the Army and Jamieson Greer for U.S. Trade Representative. These two additions will serve in vital roles from making sure that the U.S. Army is mission-focused on a peace through strength agenda to going toe-to-toe with nation's who attempt to take advantage of our economy. That makes Senate Republicans 20-0 on confirmations.
We only have three cabinet-level nominees left to confirm! Linda McMahon for Secretary of Education, Lori Chavez-DeRemer for Secretary of Labor [who've both cleared the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee], and lastly, Elise Stefanik for Ambassador to the United Nations. From the onset of President Trump's picks, Leader Thune has made clear that the ENTIRE cabinet will be confirmed in the first one hundred days of the president's administration. He, and the entire Senate GOP, are keeping that promise.
President Trump has been very clear that we're turning the Department of Defense into a well-oiled machine of trained, combat-ready warriors focused on lethality. I sat down with a general this week who said we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to right the wrongs of the previous four years. We have that with the Army's newest Secretary, Daniel P. Driscoll, who's all in on leading with peace through strength, not appeasement. Additionally, we've flipped the table on the last presidency's trade approach. With Jamieson Greer serving as our U.S. Trade Representative, we'll be putting our economy first. Making America Great Again can't happen without it.
