DEVELOPING — Elon Musk and his “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) have seized access to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) contracts and payments system, and they aim to slash climate and environmental justice programs — AND just this week, Trump and EPA Administrator Zeldin said they want to cut EPA by 65 percent with the help of Musk and his DOGE cronies.
This comes as Musk and his team have targeted environmental agencies with unprecedented layoffs and halt-work orders. Musk has threatened to terminate more than 1,100 employees at the EPA and has put the ENTIRE Office of Environmental Justice and anyone with environmental justice in their job descriptions on administrative leave.
Without staff or budget to carry out their mission — and with Musk controlling the payments systems — environmental agencies will be prevented from enforcing our most fundamental environmental laws, including keeping communities safe from pollution and cleaning up after environmental disasters.

Friend, we need your help to STOP Elon Musk’s illegal attacks on agencies that make our communities healthy, protect us from natural disasters, and combat the climate crisis.
Musk’s attacks on the EPA come as he’s illegally frozen trillions of dollars in approved federal spending programs. The New York Times is now reporting that “grants to help diversity, climate programs, and environmental-justice efforts” are set for permanent cuts.

The DOGE freeze is having far-reaching impacts in communities across the country. In Jackson, Mississippi, a storm shelter renovation project that would protect low-income residents from hurricanes and extreme heat is on hold. In Ovando, Montana, efforts to guard forests against severe drought and damaging wildfires have been halted.

Not even our schools are safe. In St. Louis, Missouri, the Ritenour School District can no longer take delivery of electric school buses. Despite two court orders telling the Trump administration to end the freeze, the Ritenour School District still can’t access their funding and have been left scrambling to buy cheaper, heavy-polluting buses instead of hiring teachers.

Meanwhile, as federal grantees like these wait in limbo around the country, Musk’s companies have been awarded tens of millions of dollars in new federal contracts.

Friend, we need your help to STOP Elon Musk’s illegal attacks on the EPA and other key agencies. Public pressure has put the Trump administration on the back foot before. Our collective voices hold power.

Thank you for everything that you do.
