Support our Work ([link removed])
Dear Friend,
This month, our global movement stands at a crossroads. As we continue to fight for equality and inclusion, we also face some of the most severe challenges in recent history—funding cuts, escalating violence, and a coordinated backlash against LGBTIQ people’s human rights. We have a dedicated page ([link removed]) where you can gain insights into the immediate consequences, global impact, and firsthand accounts of the aftermath of the U.S. Government funding cuts.
Despite these obstacles, our resolve remains unshaken. In this update, you’ll find stories of resilience, bold action, and ways you can stand with us. From our latest report ([link removed]) on the devastating impact of U.S. foreign aid cuts to celebrating champions like Gender DynamiX at the upcoming Celebration of Courage awards ([link removed]) , we remain committed to amplifying voices, pushing for change, and ensuring that no one is left behind.
** Highlighting the Impacts of the U.S. Funding Retreat

The U.S. foreign aid freeze is dismantling a human rights ecosystem that has contributed to better lives of LGBTIQ people worldwide. For over a decade, U.S. assistance provided a critical lifeline for LGBTIQ organizations—sustaining advocacy, legal protections, health care, and economic programs. That support was abruptly cut off in January 2025, leaving organizations scrambling to keep their doors open.
At Outright, 120 grants were suspended across 42 countries, shutting down services that countless people relied on. Our new report, Defunding Freedom: Impacts of U.S. Foreign Aid Cuts on LGBTIQ People Worldwide ([link removed]) , sheds light on what this means for our movement and the communities hit hardest by these cuts. We cannot afford to let this go unnoticed.

Whether it was a protest, a parade, or a community gathering, your story matters. Outright’s Global Pride Survey ([link removed]) helps us document what Pride looks like around the world, tracking the realities of LGBTIQ visibility and activism in different regions in 2024.
Your insights will shape our upcoming Pride Around the World Report, strengthening advocacy efforts on a global scale. The survey is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Bahasa.

** Championing Equality: Landmark Rulings and Global Milestones in Family Recognition
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]
Across the world, the fight for family recognition continues. Over three decades, landmark court rulings in South Africa, France, and Thailand have secured critical protections for same-sex couples and queer and trans parents, setting new legal precedents for family rights.
But full recognition of LGBTIQ families must go beyond marriage. It must include legal parenthood, property and inheritance rights, and protections against discrimination. Outright is spotlighting these victories and pushing for broader protections that ensure every family—regardless of composition or identity—is fully recognized under the law.

** Join the Fight for LGBTIQ Inclusion at the UN: CSW Webinar & Lesbian Tent Demonstration
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]
This March, Outright will be at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW)—one of the most important global gatherings for advancing gender equality. But as anti-rights groups attempt to erase LGBTIQ voices from the conversation, we must show up and speak out.
Join our webinar on March 6 titled, “We Will Not Be Silenced: What’s at Stake for Queer and Trans Rights at the UN” ([link removed]) . Queer, trans, and allied feminist activists will discuss how anti-gender movements are infiltrating UN spaces and what we can do to fight back.

Our presence at CSW will culminate in a powerful demonstration on March 14 at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza—the Beijing+30 Lesbian Tent Demonstration.
Thirty years ago, at the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, the Lesbian Tent became a historic symbol of visibility and resistance within the global feminist movement. Today, as LGBTIQ people face exclusion from spaces meant to advocate for women’s rights, we are reclaiming that moment to demand inclusion, solidarity, and global commitment to protecting LGBTIQ lives.
We are facing one of the most urgent moments in our movement's history—but together, we remain unbreakable. Whether it’s pushing back against government crackdowns, amplifying LGBTIQ voices, or demanding our seat at the table, Outright is here, and we are not backing down.
Thank you for standing with us.
In solidarity,
Outright International
P.S. Outright is on the frontlines, ensuring that LGBTIQ communities worldwide receive the support and advocacy they need. Make a gift today ([link removed]) and unite with us in the fight for human rights.
