Mueller Banner 2025
Good afternoon friends,
It has been another busy week at the Capitol. Exciting news: we passed our first two bills on the House floor last night. Both of these bills are common sense bills for the benefit of Minnesotans across the state.
Updates from the Capitol
My bills:
HF6 [ [link removed] ] - Education Priority Bill. Although I am not the chief author, this bill is our most important and holistic education bill.
HF629 [ [link removed] ] - Bonding for Blooming Prairie
HF630 [ [link removed] ] - Extension of Short-Call Substitute Teacher Program
HF877 [ [link removed] ] - Amending the Read Act
HF1128 [ [link removed] ] - Requiring public high schools to participate in the direct admissions program
HF1170 [ [link removed] ] - Bonding for the Minnesota BioImaging Center of the Hormel Institute
HF1178 [ [link removed] ] - Bonding for the Mower County FAARM program
HF1381 [ [link removed] ] - Out-of-field permissions exempted from limit on renewals
HF1456 [ [link removed] ] - Austin; local sales and use tax authorized
HF1538 [ [link removed] ] - Teacher apprenticeships funding provided, report required, and money appropriated
Update from last nights floor session:
We passed two bills in a bipartisan manner last night, HF72 [ [link removed] ] and HF289 [ [link removed] ]. We also debated HF21 [ [link removed] ], which is a bill to keep the governor's emergency powers in check. There was much discussion about this bill and when it came time to vote, Democrats voted against it so it did not pass. Checks and balances are a very important part of a healthy government, so I hope we can reconsider and pass this bill later this session.

School Tours
M
I was able to tour a few schools this week, which was a great opportunity to talk to fellow educators about some legislation I have proposed, specifically HF877 [ [link removed] ] and HF1538 [ [link removed] ]. In a kindergarten classroom at Monroe Elementary School, I saw the science of reading in action. It was so encouraging! I also had great conversations about the teacher apprenticeship program at Intermediate District 287 with staff members involved in the program. Thank you to the teachers that hosted me for the opportunity to talk about our schools and necessary legislation.

MN Nurses Association
M
I also had a great meeting with nurses from the Minnesota Nurses Association at the Capitol. We talked about the challenges of working in the healthcare field and what we need to do to help them.
FFA Students
And I had a wonderful time talking to some local FFA students from both Hayfield and Southland. They are serious dedicated and intelligent students that have wonderful aspirations for the future. I am always grateful to meet students at the Capitol, so thank you for taking the time to visit!
