Hi, John!
Lately, I’ve been playing Nikki Giovanni’s Ego Tripping’ on repeat, letting one line live in my brain rent-free, “I turned myself into myself.” It hit me — coming back to myself means doing the things that make me me. And so much of that starts with nurturing personal passions.
Reconnecting with what you love isn’t about being perfect or productive — it’s about feeding your spirit. For me, it’s picking up that camera again, for you it may be dusting off your paintbrushes or writing just for the fun of it. Maybe it’s cooking a new recipe, learning an instrument, or finally starting that YouTube channel you’ve been dreaming about. Give yourself permission to ease back in, to create without pressure, and to rediscover what lights you up. The world moves fast, but your creativity doesn’t have to keep up with anyone else’s timeline.
So go ahead — make time for what makes you feel alive. Simply because you can.
Now, let’s take a look at some of the things that brought me joy throughout February:
✅ Voting in local elections — and Beyonce’s #COWBOYCARTERTOUR. 🐝🗳️
✅ SuperBowlLIX! The Philadelphia Eagles and Kendrick Lamar, to be specific.
✅ Revisiting Nikki Giovani’s poem Ego Tripping
✅ Honoring civil and voting rights icon Congressman John Lewis on his birthday.
✅ The show Paradise on HULU. 10/10!
