Smokey the Bear FIRED
Trump and Elon are giving new meanings to the words “forest fires” — in the past few weeks, they’ve let go of ([link removed]) more than 1,000 employees of the National Parks Service and 2,000 employees of the U.S. Forest Service.
The last thing Americans need is fewer reasons to go outside and touch grass. And our new poll ([link removed]) finds that only 10% of voters support decreasing federal funding for national parks and forests — including only 4% of Democrats, 7% of Independents, and 16% of Republicans.

What must it be like to be a member of that 10%? Imagine being a hater of beautiful picturesque landscapes, pristine animal habitats, and miles of untouched wilderness… just try not to think about all the mosquitoes.
But seriously, our national parks and forest service workers are essential for cleaning after your sad attempts at “leave no trace” and rescuing you from getting locked in a bathroom at Yosemite ([link removed].) . And they deserve better than their jobs being at the whim of whatever crash out the world’s richest man is having on any given day.

Here are some other highlights from DFP this week:
Respect for all immigrants except Elon Musk
Trust us, we know that now feels like a really, really hard time to have faith in the American people. But while conventional wisdom would have you believe that most Americans have adopted Trump’s hard-right stance on immigration, when you actually press voters on real-life case examples, voters often prefer ([link removed]) more human approaches.
For example, a majority of voters think ICE should not be allowed to make arrests at sensitive locations like schools and churches. And when given examples of people affected by Trump's "Remain in Mexico" policy — like a mother with two children fleeing gang violence — a plurality of voters believe they should be allowed to enter the U.S.
Trump's push to end "catch and release," which would require detaining migrants ahead of their court hearing, also does not have strong support when voters are given specific examples of people impacted.

Go Blue (and go green)!
Michigan, we love you. And not just because your governor is out here on TikTok opening up Pokémon card packs ([link removed]) . Or because you have a city named Hell ([link removed]) . Or even because you’re home to the world’s largest tire ([link removed]) , chainsaw ([link removed]) , hamburger ([link removed]) , cherry pie pan ([link removed]) , nun doll museum ([link removed]) , and brown trout sculpture ([link removed]) . It’s because while all these other states have been slacking off, you’ve been a leader on clean energy by passing legislation
([link removed]) that will achieve a 100% clean energy standard by 2040.
But we know you can do even better. In a new survey ([link removed]) with our friends at Evergreen Action, we find that Michigan voters support transitioning the state to a 100% clean energy grid by 2035, including 85% of Democrats and 61% of Independents.
Michigan voters also strongly agree that it is important that clean energy projects are easily approved to be built, including 87% of Democrats, 68% of Independents, and 65% of Republicans.

Want to get those numbers up? Tell them that climate change is an Ohio conspiracy and Michigan voters will do anything to defeat it.
