These Republican cuts are totally unacceptable to every Democrat in the House.
We know that Medicaid is a lifeline for 80 million Americans, including nearly two million New Jersey residents. It ensures that children, seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income families have access to essential health care. We shouldn’t be kicking kids and seniors off their health care and making it harder on family caregivers just so Trump’s billionaire friends can buy another yacht or Elon Musk can launch a rocket to Mars.
Here's where I stand
Health care should not be a privilege, it should be a right.
No one should go bankrupt because they get sick.
No parent should have to skip meals to afford their child’s medication.
No married couple should have to choose between their child’s health care and an elderly family member’s home health aide.
No senior should lose care because the government decided it was more important to make the rich richer.
Instead of gutting Medicaid, we should strengthen it.
We should be strengthening Medicare and Social Security too.
Congress should be working to expand access, lower costs, and ensure that every American receives the care they deserve.
That is what I am fighting for in Congress, and I will continue to do everything in my power to stop Republicans’ devastating cuts.
Republican are Trying to Raise Your Energy Bills
While Republicans move forward with a budget that includes devastating Medicaid cuts, they are also actively working to raise Americans’ energy bills and dismantle Democrats’ efforts to reduce harmful air pollution in our communities – all to benefit their friends in the oil and gas industry. House Republicans brought legislation for a vote this week that seeks to block the methane polluter fee at the heart of a critical Inflation Reduction Act program to reduce air pollution. The Methane Emissions Reduction Program curbs methane leaks from the oil and gas industry, ensuring that polluters – not consumers – pay for wasted gas. Their bill revokes a recently finalized Biden Administration rule that helps ensure energy efficiency and low energy costs for consumers. It’s just another giveaway that saddles Americans with higher energy bills just to help Republicans’ corporate polluter friends. By gutting the program’s methane polluter fee, Republicans are forcing Americans to pay the bill for corporate polluters, costing American taxpayers a whopping $7.2 billion. This is a shameful, massive waste of money and resources.
