The consequences can still be felt to this day. The German Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe will announce its highly anticipated ruling on the future of the solidarity surcharge on March 26, 2025. In GEGENÜBER, political expert and journalist Wolfgang Mulke writes about the history and the ongoing implications of the "Solidaritätszuschlag".
