Dear Friend,
Last week, the Trump administration canceled a program called Temporary Protected Status for people from Haiti. For the past 15 years, the program has protected Haitians from being deported to a country that continues to suffer from terrible violence and civil disorder. The administration also announced a new plan to force all immigrants, regardless of status, to register with the government. This includes older children. Those who don't register could face prison time.
Please join us in rejecting this vision of a more fearful and less welcoming country. Tell your representatives in Congress to do all they can to keep families and communities together. We don't need armed government agents disrupting our neighborhoods. We need a permanent solution that recognizes immigrants as vital members of our communities. And, in the meantime, we must defend safeguards like the Temporary Protected Status program. Please join me in speaking up for immigration policies that are dignified, welcoming, and just. In peace, |
