We were proud to partner with Everytown for Gun Safety and AAPI Victory Fund on a new study to research and better understand the priorities of AAPI voters going into November:

As highlighted by the Houston Chronicle, Asian Americans represent “the fastest growing populations in the state...which Democrats see as providing a path to victory in November.” Demographic shifts present an opportunity in Texas. Today, AAPI voters “make up 10 or more percent of the population in 19 different state House districts.”

With only 9 seats to a majority, we have a once-in-a-decade chance to retake the Texas State House in 2020 before redistricting. Last November, a 241% increase in AAPI voter turnout helped us retake the Virginia Legislature. This November, we’re working to build the diverse coalition of voters we need to bring that same energy to win in Texas.

2020 is our last chance to win back power in key GOP-held state legislative chambers before Republicans gerrymander maps for the next decade. We do not get any do-overs. With 39 congressional districts and the future of our democracy on the line, we’re stepping up the fight in Texas.

Together, we can reclaim key levers of power in state legislatures and secure a xxxxxx against GOP voter suppression for the next generation.
