Happy Friday! Last week, I spoke with over 11,000 constituents concerned with President Trump's agenda and the House Republicans' disastrous budget proposal. I want to let you know that I heard you and followed through: I voted against their plan to cut billions from Medicaid, CHIP, and SNAP.

I will keep fighting against this administration's threats to our country.

I Voted NO on the Republican Budget Proposal

This week, House Republicans voted to pass a budget proposal that would betray millions of hardworking Americans.

The plan cuts $880 billion from Medicaid, adds trillions to the deficit, and gives $4.5 trillion in tax cuts to billionaires and corporate CEOs.

Over 300,000 people in the Second District would be at risk of losing their health coverage, including mothers who rely on Medicaid during postpartum. This only exacerbates our country's maternal mortality crisis and drives up healthcare costs.

The budget proposal is clear: President Trump and House Republicans are fine with sacrificing the health and well-being of Americans to satisfy his billionaire friends.

Attending the National TRIO Summit Celebration

I had the pleasure of celebrating the incredible contributions of the TRIO organization in supporting students across the country on Saturday.

TRIO has made significant strides in equipping students with the tools they need to excel in higher education and their future careers, from providing guidance on college applications to enhancing financial literacy.

Empowering our youth is a top priority. The future is brighter with TRIO's support.

Details on REAL IDs Going into Effect

You may have heard that REAL ID requirements will go into effect this year in Illinois. REAL IDs are either a driver's license or government-issued ID designated with a star inside a gold circle.

You will need a REAL ID at airports to fly domestically by May 7. You'll still be able to fly with a valid passport.

If you cannot get your REAL ID by May 7, don't panic! You'll still be able to get one after the deadline at your DMV. Visit the Office of the Illinois Secretary of State to find out how to get a REAL ID.
