This past month, Elon Musk and Donald Trump have taken a sledgehammer to our government. Thousands of federal workers have lost their jobs, and thousands are unsure what the future holds; Trump is forcing federal agencies to submit plans by mid-March for laying off employees in "large-scale reductions in force".
At the same time, Republicans in the House and Senate have pushed through a reckless and heartless budget plan that will lead to devastating cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
I am speaking out against Trump and Musk's efforts to undermine our rights and dismantle agencies that protect and uplift our communities. And I voted NO on the GOP's budget because the pathway to progress can't be built on the backs of the American people.

In communities across the country, the American people are furious. And they should be.
Even as their constituents demand answers — the GOP would rather be loyal to Trump and unelected Musk. This is not the America anyone voted for. We're facing even higher costs, an unstable government, and depleted social programs that will harm Americans across the political spectrum.
I was elected to serve hard-working families in our city — and to uphold the Constitution. I am using all the influence at my disposal to push back against Trump and Musk, but I can't do it alone.
