This powerful story follows the journeys of two Army officers
Friend,
As a U.S. Senator, every day I'm reminded of the great sacrifices that are made to defend our country and preserve the American Dream. Today, I hope you’ll take just a few minutes to hear this personal story directly from me.
Nearly four decades ago, during my time at West Point, I came across a book that left a lasting impact on me. It was "Once an Eagle" by Anton Myrer.
This powerful story follows the journeys of two Army officers – one who navigated his career driven solely by personal gain and advancement, and one who navigated his career by putting the well-being of his fellow soldiers above all else.
After graduating from West Point, I went into the Army. It was then that I truly reflected on this book and one very important lesson it taught me.
True leadership is not about you. It is about selfless service to others and to the mission.
As a combat vet, the days are long and hard. You're deep in the heart of a grueling trek, the weight of your pack bearing down with each step.
In the heat of the moment, even the smallest blister can feel like a mountain to overcome.
As a platoon leader in the 82nd Airborne, I've been there. After hours of marching, it’s not easy to keep pushing through pain. But, no matter what, I remembered how important it was to check my soldiers’ feet before my own.
Why? Because great leaders ALWAYS put others' needs first.
I’ve seen firsthand what great leadership looks like. I’ve seen that even on our worst days, you have to put the needs of others first.
In Washington, I am working every day to help change the status quo that has threatened to destroy America as we know it. We’re fighting to fix the skyrocketing inflation left by the Biden Administration, the open borders that have led to millions of illegal immigrants to overrun the country, and unprecedented crime rates that have threatened the safety of communities.
America deserves better. You deserve better.
It’s time for a strong leader who will step up to the plate, put American families first, and fight for the future our great nation deserves. Will you join me today?
I've been on tough missions, but if I'm going to fight the status quo that has had a stranglehold on Washington for so long, I need your help.
I know how to restore strong leadership in our country because I’ve done it before. And I’ll do it in Washington.
We can revitalize the economy, support small businesses, stop Washington’s spending sprees, protect our border, and save America’s future.
But in order to get the job done, it’s going to take all hands on deck.
Democrats at every level are fighting us at every step of the way. You’ve heard them screaming and shouting during their protests. They are organizing to destroy the progress we are trying to make. They’re using the courts to slow down or block us at every level. We must continue fighting for what is RIGHT.
I've lived the American Dream, and I can't sit back and watch it slip away for our kids. I need every freedom-loving American to help me shake up Washington. I promise I won't let you down.
Have a wonderful day.
