Dear Oklahoma Democrats,
"That's life." That was Governor Kevin Stitt's response to rumors of impending layoffs at Tinker Air Force Base—Oklahoma's largest single-site employer. His dismissive words reflect a broader callousness toward the struggles of everyday Oklahomans, and we cannot stand by in silence.
This is exactly why we support the February 28th Economic Blackout. Today, we are not asking for a donation. Instead, we are asking you to join us in sending a message to our congressional delegation:
We have the power of our purses, and on Friday, February 28th, we will be keeping them closed.
Their unwavering allegiance to the current president has left them blind to the realities faced by hard working Oklahomans. It’s time they prioritize the people they were elected to serve. By refusing to spend money for just one day, we can make it clear that we will not be ignored.
We urge you to take the following steps on February 28th:
* Spend nothing for 24 hours—no coffee runs, no takeout, no gas, no unnecessary purchases.
* If you must spend , choose small, locally owned businesses to keep money in our communities.
* Spread the word by sharing this message with friends, family, and colleagues.
Economic power is political power. Let’s make our voices heard.
In solidarity,
Alicia Andrews
