Kresha Banner 2025
Hello neighbors,
It has been a beautiful week outside! Compared to the frigid temperatures of the past few weeks, it truly feels like we are nearing spring. I hope you have a chance to head outside and get some fresh air this weekend and enjoy the shining sun.
My bill, HF779, was referred to the Education Finance Committee and heard on Tuesday this week. This bill allows for advance payments of the education credit and gives families extra flexibility to cover necessary school expenses without worrying about the financial burden. A big component to our student's success in schools is them having the tools and supplies that they need, which often come from home. For parents that worry about footing the bill for school supplies, HF779 provides relief earlier than it would usually come.
I am excited to share that I now have bills to support both the Minnesota Fishing Museum in Little Falls and the Camp Ripley Veterans Bike Trail. I love the area that we live in and attractions such as these make it a truly special place. The Minnesota Fishing Museum in Little Falls preserves our state's rich angling history, while the Camp Ripley Veterans Bike Trail offers a scenic and meaningful way to honor those who have served. Supporting these initiatives helps strengthen our local economy, promote tourism, and celebrate the unique culture of our community. I am proud to advocate for projects that enhance our region and provide lasting benefits for residents and visitors alike.
Meeting
I grabbed this photo from my meeting on Wednesday with Aitkin, Morrison, and Crow Wing Counties. I also got to meet with Mille Lacs County but forgot to grab a picture. It was great to see everyone at the Capitol and have the chance to connect, thank you for visiting!
This week is Public Schools Week, so I want to highlight some accomplishments from the Aitkin Public Schools. Aitkin students ranked #1 in MCA Math scores and #3 in MCA Reading scores among 10 area schools. Students on academic teams such as Chemistry Club and the Knowledge Bowl had an awesome year and represented our school well. Our fine arts program continues to give students the opportunity to display their talents and earn honors and awards. Also, our sports teams continue to play fiercely and perform well against other teams and athletes. Congratulations to all of our students for their success and accomplishment in the classroom, on stage, and in extra-curricular competitions.
BTW: By the way, check out the art of renowned wildlife artist Francis Lee Jaques in Aitkin this weekend. The exhibit is up at the Jaques Art Center until March 8th, Wednesday through Saturday, 11AM-4PM.
