Hey Young Dems,

We will be voting on whether to endorse the new Prop 13 reform measure this upcoming General Membership meeting on Wednesday August 28th, 2019. Please be sure to check out our Facebook page for our meeting details.

The sponsors of the Schools and Communities First ballot measure for Prop 13 reform are replacing their previous ballot measure with a similar new one.

changes to the measure include:

  • Expanding the reassessment exemption to small business owners with property valued at $3 million or less, up from the previous $2 million threshold.
  • Extending the phase-in period for buildings occupied 50% or more by small businesses by three years.
  • Tightening the Education Finance Language to ensure every school district receives funding in an equitable way.
  • Strengthening the zoning language to ensure large corporations can’t avoid reassessment once implementation rolls out.

Updating the Implementation dates to adjust for winning in 2020 vs. 2018.

You can review the ballot documents here.

We look forward to seeing you all on the 28th!

In Community,
