Hi, friend, it’s Gabby Giffords.

Mark is my husband, my best friend, and my rock.

It’s his birthday tomorrow, he’s got a bit of a cold, and I wanted to reach out about him.

We’d normally have something fun planned, but this year is a little different. President Trump and extreme Republicans in Washington are pushing through a budget that will cut taxes for billionaires and make working families and the middle class foot the bill. In the Senate, they’re starting an overnight “vote-a-rama” on one of the resolutions tonight — and Mark is going to do everything he can to fight it.

What that means is, we’re not going to be able to spend his birthday together. He wouldn’t have it any other way, though. Mark is a fighter, and if there is any chance that he can to make a difference, he is going to take it.

There will be other birthdays, but today, this is more important.

I know that it would mean a lot to him, and to me, if you could show that you have his back. This work takes a big team, and you’re an important part of it.
