That's what George Floyd said before dying under the weight of a Minneapolis police officer kneeling on his neck.
But it wasn't the first time we've heard a Black man or woman echo similar words. Before George Floyd, it was Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, Freddie Gray, Philando Castile, Alton Sterling, Walter Scott, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, and far too many more Black Americans who've died because of excessive force at the hands of the police.
While the four Minneapolis police officers involved in George Floyd’s murder have been terminated, and the officer who knelt on George Floyd’s neck now in custody, we still need justice. How many more Black Americans have to die before Congress acts?

We can't look away — there's simply too much trauma, too many hashtags, and too little accountability and too few investigations. It's easy to get exhausted, but we cannot give up — not until there have been systemic changes to address these injustices.
