FIRST, Trump promised to lower costs for working Americans and vowed never to touch essential public services like Medicaid, which provides food, healthcare, elder care and Head Start for low income and working families, the disabled, and Veterans.
THEN, House Republicans introduced a budget bill that
cuts a staggering $880 billion in Medicaid funding – all to fund massive tax breaks for America’s wealthiest individuals and largest corporations.
NOW, despite every single Democrat voting against it, House Republicans pushed this disastrous bill through – a vote to strip health care from millions of Americans. This bill is now heading to the Senate for a vote.
In Washington State, nearly 40% of children and 35% of moms giving birth and their babies rely on Medicaid for healthcare. These cuts would jeopardize access to care for hundreds of thousands of Washingtonians.
The silence, and sheer cowardice, of House Republicans is deafening.
But this fight is far from over. Marilyn is working with her Democratic colleagues to build as much opposition to this bill as possible and ensure it does not pass the Senate.
