John,
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi is threatening to sue our state because Attorney General Ellison is blocking one of President Trump’s executive orders. In a letter sent to Keith earlier this week, she warned “Minnesota should be on notice.”
Trump has issued multiple executive orders targeting transgender people, including a cruel directive to ban transgender girls and women from competing in sports consistent with their gender identity. This order brings the full weight of the U.S. Department of Justice down on a small, vulnerable group of young people.
But here’s the thing: Trump’s order violates the Minnesota Human Rights Act, which explicitly prohibits discrimination. The executive order doesn’t supersede our state’s protections, so Keith announced earlier this month that Minnesota won’t comply.
Keith is holding the line, defending our laws, and standing up for our shared values.
Now more than ever, we need leaders with the courage to take on the Trump administration if they try to break the law. Let’s make sure Keith knows he’s not alone in this fight.
John, will you donate $10, $25, $50, or whatever you can afford by 11:59 p.m. tomorrow to help us close the gap and make sure Keith has the resources to keep fighting? With just over 24 hours left until our end-of-month fundraising deadline, we’re still more than $7,000 short of our goal.
