Hey folks. It’s heroes, thought pieces, and feedback day! So I won’t waste too much time here. But in case you missed them, here’s last night’s chat [ [link removed] ] with the smartest political mind out there, Mike Madrid [ [link removed] ]. Please join us next week for our live event. We’ll have another great guest on and enjoy the camaraderie of the resistance.
And here’s today’s podcast, Yes, Trump Lies When He Speaks. But Democrats Avoid Speaking [ [link removed] ], for more of your listening pleasure!
Finally, I’ve heard some of you are having trouble upgrading to paid. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, and I’ll bump it up to Substack Support, if I have to. But first, give this a try…
Okay, now for all of you readers out there, onto the Heroes of the Week!
LINCOLN HEIGHTS, OHIO. Earlier this month, a truck of neo-Nazis [ [link removed] ] came to the majority-Black town of Lincoln Heights, Ohio, and masked demonstrators hurled racist slurs and waved flags with red swastikas on a highway overpass leading into town. Two weeks later, another agitator struck, spreading racist pamphlets from the Ku Klux Klan across the town. The residents aren’t having this bullshit. They are now guarding the roads leading into their suburb, protecting their own. Good for them.
JANET MILLS. The governor of Maine [ [link removed] ] didn’t back down when Donald Trump threw every threat he could think of at her last Friday at his meeting with state governors. That calm delivery of “See you in court” was *chef’s kiss* brilliant, Gov.
MELANIE STANSBURY. Somehow we missed Rep. Stansbury’s amazing takedown [ [link removed] ] of Elon Musk and DOGE earlier this month. But this week, she lit up the House Oversight Committee [ [link removed] ] again. Thank you, Congresswoman! We need more of that fire from the rest of her colleagues on the Hill.
GUY AT A TOWN HALL. We don’t know who he is exactly, but hell yeah [ [link removed] ]!
How Far Will They Go?
This week, a screenshot allegedly showing a letter from Roger Stone to Donald Trump calling for the disarming of the American public began circulating online. I won’t share it here, because it’s unverified and almost certainly disinformation. But the fact that such a message is even conceivable made me stop and think: just how far will Trump go? And how far are MAGA supporters willing to follow him, even if it means the complete erosion of their most dearly held values?
Would they support him shutting down the free press? Would they cheer if he jailed his opponents without due process? Would they look the other way if he rounded up dissidents and deported them? Or had them executed? ...
