Recent Victory in Arizona Protects the Freedom to Vote

Voters in Arizona secured a major victory in federal court by successfully keeping two restrictive, anti-voter laws blocked. These laws unfairly targeted Latino, Native and student voters and would have created a discriminatory and confusing system that made it much harder for many Americans to exercise their freedom to vote.

Thanks to this important victory, Arizonans will be able to exercise their freedom to vote without unnecessary burdens and restrictions. Without this win, thousands of Arizonans would have been silenced. Congress should keep this in mind as it considers the SAVE Act, which would make unfair restrictions like these the norm across the country.

Our democracy is strongest when every American can make their voice heard. This victory will ensure that Arizonans – and all Americans – can do just that.
