Healthy Futures of Texas is excited to announce the launch of our new statewide public awareness campaign, "Confident Parents Raise Confident Teens," presented by Talk About It Texas. This initiative is designed to empower parents with the tools and confidence they need to have meaningful conversations with their teens and young adults about healthy relationships and sexual health.

The campaign will reach nearly five million parents and youth in Dallas, San Antonio, and the Rio Grande Valley through targeted ads on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and digital billboards placed in areas with a significant need for support. By providing parents with the resources they need to navigate these crucial discussions, we aim to strengthen families and foster healthier futures for Texas teens.

Our programs are available both online and in-person across Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, and the Rio Grande Valley. Parents can register for programs here.

Youth Advocates: Empowering Future Leaders! The Healthy Futures of Texas Youth Advocates (YA) program works with high school students to build the next generation of civic leaders. Our YA members are advocating for legislation that would require school districts to hold a seat for students on School Health Advisory Council (SHACs). Check out our SHAC Bill toolkit, designed to help community members advocate for these bills!

The Bill Game: Learn How Laws Are Made – One Roll at a Time! Ever wondered how a bill becomes a law, but were too afraid to ask? Now there’s a game for that! Healthy Futures has developed The Bill Game, an engaging dice game that takes players through the legislative process. You’re a bill – can you become a law? The game is designed for high school classes, but is also fun for adults.  Everything you need to play, including a facilitator’s guide, is available online here. 

Help us celebrate leaders in adolescent health! Nominations are open for the Rising Star, Changemaker, and Community Partner Awards, which will be presented at the 2025 Healthy Futures Annual Symposium. These awards honor individuals and organizations making a lasting impact in teen pregnancy prevention and adolescent health. Submit your nomination here by March 15!

• San Antonio Report published "San Antonio teens advocate for health policies and shared leadership," highlighting Healthy Futures of Texas Youth Advocates' efforts to push for student representation on School Health Advisory Councils (SHACs). This collaboration with UP Partnership’s Future Ready Bexar County Plan supports a broader goal of increasing postsecondary enrollment in Bexar County.
• San Antonio City Council approved key agreements to combat the HIV epidemic, selecting Healthy Futures of Texas among the organizations leading efforts to provide culturally relevant sexual health information. • Austin Chronicle featured our 2023 report on opt-in sexual health education policies in Texas in "Making Sex Ed Opt-In, For Good This Time," emphasizing how Senate Bill 371 could impact parental consent requirements. The article noted that "only 30-60% of students got parental consent when opt-in policies were in place in comparison to 93-100% when opt-out policies were in place."
