Now more than ever, we need to stand together.

John,

Last night, I joined Vermont Senators Peter Welch and Bernie Sanders for a virtual town hall — and it’s clear that Vermonters are deeply concerned about the Trump administration’s illegal attacks on working families and our democracy.

We heard from seniors who are worried about how they’d afford to see a doctor if Donald Trump and extreme Republicans follow through with their plan to slash Medicaid.

We heard from mental health care providers who are concerned about the safety and well-being of trans and non-binary youth as hateful rhetoric directed at the LGBTQ+ community becomes more than just rhetoric, but policy.

We heard from teachers and students who are terrified about the path forward for our children and young people if the Trump administration abolishes the Department of Education.

But one question struck me the most: What can we do about all this?

John, this is what I said.

We have to work together. All of us need to step up. We need to work the muscles of public protest, organize in our communities, and yes — take to the streets if the moment calls for it.

Most of all, we can’t lose hope.

Because this is not Trump’s democracy. It’s not the MAGA democracy. This democracy belongs to all of us.

I’m going to continue doing everything I can to defend working families in Vermont and across the country from Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s cruel attacks and scare tactics — and I won’t stop speaking up to tell the truth about what’s happening in this moment.

John, it would mean so much to know this grassroots team has my back in this fight. So please, if you’re able, pitch in any amount before our tomorrow’s end-of-month fundraising deadline.

In solidarity,

Becca
