After 20 Years, a House in Sheikh Jarrah is Taken out of the Hands of Settlers. February 26, 2025- Twenty years ago, a settler association took over the property of the family of former Attorney General Michael Ben Yair in Sheikh Jarrah, without the family’s knowledge. The settlers managed to collect hundreds of thousands of shekels in rent from the Palestinian residence who live in the house and planned to replace them with settlers. When the Ben Yair family learned of this, they began a fight for their home with the help of Shalom Achshav, and about a month ago, the final verdict was given that returned the property to its rightful owners. The family intends to allow the Palestinian residents to continue living in their home for many years to come.

Call on Congress to Reject President Trump’s Criminal Gaza Plan Over the past two weeks, President Trump has double- and triple-downed on his dangerous proposal for the US to “take over” Gaza. His reckless insistence that the United States participate in the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza is a clear call for ethnic cleansing - a war crime. Trump’s claim that this forced displacement could occur without US military involvement is both deceptive and absurd. The mass expulsion of a population of this scale would inevitably require force, making his denials not only unrealistic but also deeply irresponsible. Congress must make it clear that not a single taxpayer dollar will be spent on the forced displacement of Palestinian civilians living there.
