We’re in the heart of Black History Month—a month to reflect on the reliance, achievements, and impact of Black Americans. It’s an opportunity to honor Black culture, recognize the fight for justice, and celebrate those who have paved the way for progress.
At the beginning of this month, I was honored to be able to participate in the Underground Railroad Commemorative Walk with my friends at the Emmarts United Methodist Church - a stop on the Underground Railroad. Together, we came together to recognize and celebrate the legacy of those who sought freedom along the Underground Railroad, as well as the continued importance of preserving and sharing this history.
I believe that when we uplift one another, we all thrive. This month is truly a chance to deepen our understanding of and explore Maryland’s rich history.
You can learn about ways to celebrate Black History Month in Maryland from the Maryland Office of Tourism both today, and throughout the rest of the month here.
Be well, take care, and keep in touch!
My best,
Brooke
