John,

Governor Kathy Hochul has plunged New York's prison system into chaos, endangering correctional officers, inmates, and soldiers in the New York National Guard.

Thanks to Governor Hochul, New York has lost thousands of Corrections Officers, because of severe understaffing, dangerous working conditions and forced overtime.

HELP DEFEAT HOCHUL →

After Hochul passed the ultra-liberal HALT Act to ban solitary confinement and other penalties used to stop the most violent criminals in our prison system, attacks on officers and other inmates have skyrocketed.

Hochul and the Democrats made it impossible to preserve order and safety for anyone in New York’s prisons.

After our brave Correctional Officers demanded both a change to this law and an end to forced 16-24 hour shifts, Hochul deployed the National Guard to our prisons, without any training or safety measures. Hochul is now treating soldiers like they are prisoners and putting them in harm’s way.

State Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt, who served our country and is a former member of the New York National Guard, said, "Deploying our National Guard makes this situation even more dangerous. This is not what they are trained for."

The NYGOP stands with New York's Correctional Officers against Governor Hochul's radical policies and failed leadership.
