Every year after the State of the Union Address, the opposing political party selects one person to give an official response carried on national television and watched by millions of people.

This year, I've been asked to give that response. It’s a big honor, especially as a brand new, 8-weeks-in Senator.

I'm definitely looking forward to leveling with the American people about what is actually happening in this country.

Whether it's our economic security or our national security, we've got to chart a way forward that actually improves people's lives in the country we all love.

You've been a very important part of my journey to get to this point, and I am hoping that you'll tune in to watch next Tuesday night.
