Right now, hardworking American families are struggling with the costs of basic needs like groceries and medical bills. And the Republican House just passed a budget that will hurt everybody except billionaires like Elon Musk.

Their budget will cut billions from the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid, potentially stripping millions of their benefits. It will cut critical programs like Meals on Wheels, Head Start, federal student loans and Pell Grants. It will also include handing out more than $4.5 trillion in tax breaks to the wealthiest among us.

Republicans will give speeches that they’re trying to reduce the deficit. But their bill will add trillions to the deficit over the next decade. Every Democratic President since Kennedy has left the deficit in a better situation for their Republican successor than they inherited. And since Nixon, every Republican President has done the opposite. Without exception. And now just like clockwork, they are in the process of passing a budget that cuts taxes for the top 1% and has cuts in critical programs for everybody else, and incredibly produces a deficit worse than it would be if they had done nothing.

We’ve seen this film before. We deserve better.
