Dear Friend,
The freedoms we enjoy as Americans wouldn’t be possible without the brave men and women who have answered the call to serve our country. When these heroes come home, they deserve the confidence that they can rely on their elected representatives for support.
The Congressional Medal of Honor is the highest recognition a U.S. servicemember can attain. Those who earn the Medal of Honor are heroes, whose valor and bravery have set them apart from their fellow servicemembers. Since the Medal of Honor was created in 1863, there have been 3,515 recipients, with just 61 currently living.
This week, the House of Representatives voted on legislation to honor them by increasing their pensions. The Medal of Honor Act, introduced by my friend and colleague Representative Troy Nehls, would increase the special pension rate for Medal of Honor recipients from approximately $16,880 annually to $100,000.
While we can never repay these brave men and women for their service and sacrifice, I was proud to support this legislation to ensure our most courageous and fearless servicemembers are taken care of in their retirement.

As the 119th Congress continues, we will continue to seek opportunities to expand benefits and care for all veterans. In fact, next month, our office will be hosting our first Veterans' Resource Fair of 2025. Similar to last year’s Veterans' Resource Fairs, this will be an opportunity for veterans to connect with our office and learn more about the services we can provide for veterans and their families.
For more information on the Veterans' Resource Fair, or to get help with your casework questions, please reach out to our office in Otsego at (763) 241-6848.
Sincerely,
