Cynthia Lummis - Senator for Wyoming

President Trump Will Bring the Golden Age to Wyoming.

It is a new day in Washington, and the energy feels remarkably different since President Trump took office. Congress is working for the American people once again, and the president is operating at lightning speed to sign more than 300 executive orders to reverse broken policy, and implement new, promising plans that will bring home results to the Cowboy State. I had the opportunity to speak with the Wyoming State Legislature to express my gratitude for the patriots serving our state and share what I am doing in Washington to preserve our Wyoming way of life.

President Trump answered the call from the people of Wyoming and reversed the Rock Springs and Buffalo Resource Management Plan (RMP). Freeing up these public lands allows for responsible, multiple-use energy development, paving the way for Wyoming to unleash our energy dominance. We have only hit the tip of the iceberg, and the possibilities with artificial intelligence are going to double our energy demand. Wyoming is one of the only states with the infrastructure to produce the computer capacity needed to make the United States a leader in AI, and I am working with my team to bring those companies to the Cowboy State.

The west is entering a golden age, and I invited three of the president’s cabinet members to Wyoming to show them our way of life. Lee Zeldin, a New York native who is leading the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is eager to come and learn about the EPA’s impact on our state. I am thrilled for him to help us through challenging permitting issues and understand just how clean we can do hydrocarbon energy here in the Cowboy State. I also extended an invite to Sean Duffy, the Transportation Secretary, who knows just how unfairly gasoline and diesel drivers have been targeted. Electric vehicles are exempted from contributing to the Highway Trust Fund, and it is passed time we mandate all drivers to contribute to the safety of our roads. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Health and Human Services Secretary, is no stranger to the Cowboy State after spending time hunting in Sweetwater County, and I invited him back for a healthcare roundtable. This is an opportunity to help him understand frontier and rural healthcare in a way that only frontier and rural areas can.

The United States government has been working against the American people for far too long. Billions of taxpayer dollars have been thrown out the window, and our federal government grew to unprecedented sizes, reaching every corner of the Cowboy State. This administration is already making for a better America, creating a safer, more prosperous nation for all Americans.

Happy Trails,

Senator Lummis' Week in Pictures

It was great to be back in the State House to update the State Legislature about the ways we are partnering with President Trump to put the hardworking people of Wyoming first and thanking them for their service to the Cowboy State.

Senator John Barrasso, Representative Hageman, and I enjoyed talking with the people of Wyoming on a tele-townhall. It’s always incredibly valuable answering questions and talking with folks from across our state. Alongside President Trump, we will continue working to unlock Wyoming and America’s full and unlimited potential!

I had a great meeting with Bill Pulte as we discussed finding innovative ways to increase access to affordable housing for people in Wyoming. I will proudly vote to confirm him as our next Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency!

Members of my staff volunteered with the Military Affairs Committee to spread the love to our troops this Valentine’s Day! We are incredibly grateful for the brave men and women who protect our freedoms each & every day.

Legislative Actions

This week, I sent a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr urging him to ensure swift disbursement of funds for the "Rip and Replace” program. Quickly disbursing funds for Rip and Replace ensures small wireless and broadband carriers throughout the country will not be saddled with millions of dollars in costs that could result in service blackouts and disruptions to Americans. This is especially important to states like Wyoming, where poor telecommunications connectivity continues to be one our biggest challenges. With the new funding, telecommunications companies will now have the ability to not only ensure the rural areas of Wyoming have reliable access but also that our communications systems are protected from foreign adversaries.

Senator John Barrasso, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman, and I introduced the bipartisan and bicameral Postal Operations Stay Timely and Local (POSTALAct. This legislation prevents the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) from closing, consolidating, or downgrading processing and distribution centers (P&DC) if it would eliminate the only P&DC in a state. The people of Wyoming are greatly disadvantaged by the mail delivery policies implemented under the Biden administration, and it is commonsense for every state to have at least one sorting facility, to ensure efficient and timely in-state mail delivery. I am proud to champion this mail policy for rural communities, so every American, regardless of zip code, can rely on USPS once again.

President Trump also signed an Executive Order to prohibit federal funding for COVID-19 vaccine mandates in schools. This is wonderful news for the people of Wyoming, protecting personal freedoms and making sure our children’s education is not conditioned on this extreme government overreach. The fact that some schools and universities enforced COVID-19 vaccine mandates is not just uninformed, but it’s wrong. Children and young adults have an incredibly low risk of developing a severe illness from COVID-19, and this Executive Order ensures that students throughout the Cowboy State have access to high-quality education without forcing parents into a difficult situation.

Wyoming Shoutout

Shout-out to Lander Middle School’s assistant principal Johnny Horton! Mr. Horton was named Wyoming Assistant Principal of the Year in recognition of his care and consideration for students, and he is committed to bettering student life throughout Lander Middle. Congratulations to Mr. Horton for being recognized out of the hundreds of schools throughout the Cowboy State!
