This weekend I&rsquo;m headed to Louisiana to spend time with my family and attend a few Mardi Gras parades. If you&rsquo;re unfamiliar with Mardi Gras, it&rsquo;s essentially a day of celebration (and for some, excess) before the season of Lent begins. In Louisiana, people celebrate with parades, beads, masks, king cakes and more. While Mardi Gras often carries a negative stigma, I promise you that — at least in North Louisiana — the parades are tame and family-friendly, haha. They&rsquo;re simply a fun way to party before a season of fasting begins.

I&rsquo;m especially excited to celebrate this year because I don&rsquo;t normally participate in Lent. But on March 7 I&rsquo;m joining Plugged In for their
