This weekend I’m headed to Louisiana to spend time with my family and attend a few Mardi Gras parades. If you’re unfamiliar with Mardi Gras, it’s essentially a day of celebration (and for some, excess) before the season of Lent begins. In Louisiana, people celebrate with parades, beads, masks, king cakes and more. While Mardi Gras often carries a negative stigma, I promise you that — at least in North Louisiana — the parades are tame and family-friendly, haha. They’re simply a fun way to party before a season of fasting begins.
