The Republican Party’s budget is completely upside down.

What is it? A $4.5 trillion tax break for billionaires paid for by stripping Medicaid, SNAP food benefits, veterans programs, Head Start education for kids, and life-saving medical research – all to pad the wallets of their very wealthiest donors.

This abandonment of our values will be felt across generations, all to benefit the few at the very top.

Take the Medicaid cuts, for example. The $880 billion removed from Medicaid alone represents an attack on:

• 21% of Americans nationally
• 4 in 10 children
• 5 in 8 nursing home residents

In addition to these direct attacks on our well-being, the budget attempts to direct one of my committees, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, with finding $10 billion in reductions, which will mean cuts to public transportation and clean power projects. You have my word I will use every lever I have available to stop this rip-off from happening.

This cannot stand.

I am united with everyone disgusted by the GOP’s attack on working people.
