John,
Last week, Emerge alum Delegate Destiny LeVere Bolling made history in the Virginia House of Delegates after voting remotely just one week after delivering her baby. When Emerge women are in office, they break down barriers!
|
State legislatures–and even Congress–still lack basic accommodations for pregnant and postpartum lawmakers. In fact, 31 state legislatures across the country do not allow remote participation in floor proceedings.
Women first began representing Virginians in just 1924. Since then, 123 women have served in office. Today, Virginia is one of the states with the highest representation of mothers caring for minors in the state legislature!
Emerge women are breaking down barriers and building a more inclusive government where every woman has the opportunity to serve their communities. By electing more women to office, we can secure representation for the New American Majority and continue to push for policies that make our government more accessible.
Will you make a contribution today to help us recruit and train the next generation of women leaders?

Onward,
Jasmine Smith
