Dear Neighbor, I hope you are well! Below, I have for you important information about the recent proposal to the federal budget along with my comments and concerns. If you continue to scroll, I also provided information about more grants heading to our community, a recent visit to Mitzvah Circle, a Black History Month highlight, and more!
As always, I hope you find the information below informative and useful. | Message on the Vote to Authorize $880 billion in Healthcare Cuts | The Congressional majority's vote to authorize $880 billion in health care cuts this week will cause a significant, negative impact on essential programs like Medicaid and CHIP. Here in Pennsylvania, our residents rely on these critical programs so that they can receive the care and support they need to thrive. Under this proposal, health care availability would rapidly erode. One of my priorities is to advocate for people with disabilities, their caregivers, and the professionals who aid and support them in providing care and services. Slashing critical health care dollars does not lead to better financial responsibility, it creates an unnecessary problem that will affect the lives of millions in the Commonwealth. Without the federal funding that Congress and the Administration propose to eliminate, Pennsylvanians will have decreased access to services and will experience a diminished quality of care. | Grants Coming to the 150th! | Neighbors, I’m pleased to announce seven grants have recently been awarded in our community, including a $250,000 multimodal award to Upper Providence Township for improvements to trails and pedestrian safety at Hopwood Road, as well as over $104,000 for six fire and EMS grants to numerous companies in the area. | My staff and colleagues from the PA House Southeast Delegation volunteered at Mitzvah Circle yesterday afternoon, helping pack over 70 boxes that will support families throughout our community. If you want to donate items but are unable to make it to Mitzvah’s new location in Lansdale, drop off any donations to my district office and we’ll deliver them! | Black History Month Highlight | Neighbors, did you know in Valley Forge National Park there is a monument dedicated to Black soldiers of the Revolutionary War? The “Patriots of African Descent Monument” honors Black Revolutionary War soldiers who served during the Valley Forge Encampment from 1777-78.
